Ha’wa’lou, we have been working with the HSU NAS Food Sovereignty Lab (FSL) steering committee, which after much collaboration with the community has been approved by HSU contingent on funding, and will located in the bottom floor of the Social Sciences building by the Native American Forum. There is a March fundraising event happening now and this Friday 3/19 from 5p.m-8pm is a zoomathon that Michelle Hernandez is participating in and will be showing her documentary and Cheryl Seidner will be doing the closing. Please share and spread the word! The WNRD are donating some native Wiyot food plants that we have cultivated to the silent auction.
In other exciting news, the FSL will be given a Wiyot name through the democratic process from folks with Wiyot ancestry. Below is the link to the voting form, where you can see the proposed names and their recorded Wiyot pronunciations. Please vote and share with other Wiyot citizens. Ideally we want the survey to close around April 9th. Please share your thoughts and input in the survey before April 9th if you can. Thanks!
